M.C.C. tour of Ceylon, Australia and, principally, New Zealand 1935/36. Official mono photograph of the M.C.C. team who toured New Zealand, seated and standing in rows and wearing tour blazers. The photograph laid down to mount and signed in black ink to upper and lower mount borders by all fourteen members of the touring party featured. Signatures are E.R.T. Holmes (Captain), Parks, Griffith, Powell, Smith, Sims, Hardstaff, Langridge, Barber, Read, Lyttelton, Baxter, Mitchell-Innes and Human. The photograph measures 10.75”x7”, mounted overall 11”x9”. The mount has been trimmed, affecting the signature of Baxter. Minor fading to some signatures, wear to mount corners, the photograph in very good condition. A rare signed photograph from this tour.
The 1935/36 M.C.C. tour comprised up and coming England players with a view to gaining experience prior to the full tour in 1936/37. After a brief stopover in Ceylon, the team played six first-class matches in Australia before moving on to New Zealand where they played eight first-class matches including two unofficial ‘Tests’.
