Felix on the Bat: Being a scientific inquiry into the use of the cricket bat: together with the history and use of the catapulta. Also, The Laws of Cricket as revised by the Marylebone Club’. Nicholas Wanostrocht. Second edition. London 1850. viii, 58pp plus advertising page to rear, with ten lithograph plates (seven hand-coloured, three mono). Pages checked and complete. Original decorative green cloth covers with gilt titles and cricket scene image to front, page edges gilt. Ownership name in pencil to front endpaper of the collector, F.C. Russell, and bookplate of Thos. Pilkington to inside front cover. Padwick 397. Wear, staining and soiling to original boards, total loss of gilt from titles, breaking to page block with one colour plate becoming detached, otherwise in generally good condition.
Interestingly the plates in the second edition are different to the first edition, the first edition by C. Graf, in the second edition by M&N Hanhart, and different again in the third edition.
