Australia tours to England 1934, 1938 & 1948. Three double sided menu cards from the Maynard Arms, Grindleford, each with blank menu with hotel emblem to one side and, to the verso, printed facsimile signatures of the Australian touring parties. The menus are dated 12th- 18th July 1934, 28th June- 7th July 1938, and 21st- 30th June 1948. Each card measures approx. 6”x9.5”. Minor wear, otherwise in good/ very good condition. Sold with an unused and complete official ticket with stub attached for the 1st Ashes Test, England v Australia, Trent Bridge, dated 31st May 1921 (third day, the match was completed in two days, Australia winning by ten wickets). Also an official ticket for the Annual Ball to ‘Welcome home to N.S.W. Members of the 1938 Australian Team’, given by the New South Wales Cricket Association, 5th November 1938. Minor wear to the 1921 match ticket, otherwise in good/ very good condition. Qty 5.
It is very likely that the Australians stayed at the Maynard Arms when playing their tour matches against Yorkshire. Grindleford is situated in the Peak District, just ten miles from Sheffield.
