Cricket scrapbook 1880s/1890s. Early original scrapbook collected by ‘J.A.C’. comprising a selection of cuttings, photographs, fixture cards etc. including a good number of magazine article extracts covering County Championship match reports and statistics, instructional articles by W.G. Grace, cricket at Epsom 1880-1881 and schools cricket for the period. Some illustrations are hand coloured. Laid down to pages are six small original sepia photographs, including a small bookplate style image of ‘The Australian Team, 1882’ with printed title and players’ names to borders, photographs of the Surrey and Kent teams and one of the match in progress at Tonbridge, 14th & 15th July 1892, a team photograph of the Epsom XI 1881, and boys playing cricket. Also three original fixture cards for Epsom College C.C. seasons 1880 & 1881, and Sidney College, Cambridge 1899. Ownership name of ‘J.A. Collins’ annotated to one of the Epsom College fixture cards, presumably the owner of the album. The album in somewhat tatty condition, covers and pages detached, lacking spine paper, in need of a rebind. Contents good.
