Australian Test players. Selection of six ink signatures of Australian Test cricketers all on paper pieces and laid down to a grey/blue card. Signatures are Herbert Ironmonger, Queensland, Victoria & Australia 1909-1936, William Arras Johnston, Victoria & Australia 1945-1955, Hunter Scott Thomas Laurie Hendry. New South Wales, Victoria & Australia 1918-1936, Percival Mitchell Hornibrook. Queensland & Australia 1919-1934, William A. ‘Bill’ Brown, New South Wales & Australia 1932-1950 and the rarer signature of Kenneth Edward Burn, Tasmania & Australia 1883-1910. The signature of Johnston heavily trimmed, minor smudging to odd signature otherwise in good condition
Kenneth Burn played two Tests for Australia, both against England in 1890. Burn’s selection for the Australian touring party in 1890 bordered on the farcical. He was picked as reserve wicket-keeper, only after he had joined the team on the ship to England and they were in the red sea did he admit that he had never kept wicket. Burn played in the first two Tests on the tour, both of them lost. In the first, he batted at No 10 and No 11, in the second, he was promoted to No 6 in the first innings and opened in the second innings. In all, he scored 41 runs.
