George Copeland ‘Jackie’ Grant. Cambridge University, Rhodesia, Trinidad & West Indies 1928-1935. Two page double-sided handwritten letter in ink with good cricket content from Grant to ‘Mr Brooking’ dated 11th December 1936. Written on Grenada Secondary School ‘Head Master’ letterhead, he opens by commenting on England’s success in the first Ashes Test in Australia and states ‘They are doing much better than I anticipated’. His describes his own cricket, including playing for the school in a local cup competition, and captaining the Grenada XI scoring 150 against Barbados. School commitments prevent him travelling to Trinidad for ‘the Inter-Colonial Tournament between British Guiana, Barbados and Trinidad’. Nicely signed ‘G. Grant’. Light folds. Very good condition.
Grant was head master of Grenada Boys’ Secondary School 1935-1943. He captained West Indies in fourteen Tests 1930-1935.
