M.C.C. tour to Australia 1920/21. Official menu for the ‘Complimentary Smoke Concert to the Hon. D. Mackinnon, President, Victorian Cricket Association on the occasion of his visit to Europe’. Held at the Masonic Hall, Melbourne, 14th February 1921. The four page menu with card wrappers and cord tie features a colour illustration to the front cover by Arthur Mailey of Mackinnon depicted wearing kilt, VCA blazer, bat in one hand, duck in the other. The final page has been signed in ink and pencil by fourteen attendees including eight members of the M.C.C. touring party, Hitch, Rhodes, Waddington, Parkin, Russell, Strudwick, Makepeace and Hendren. Additionally the signatures of Hobbs, Douglas and Dolphin are on a piece laid down to the inside back cover. Some wear and soiling to wrappers, otherwise in good condition.
The dinner took place during the course of the 4th Test being played at Melbourne 11th- 16th February 1921. Australia won by eight wickets and later completed the first ‘whitewash’ winning the Ashes series 5-0. i
