Australia tour to England 1938. Montage comprising two album pages nicely signed in ink by thirteen members of the Australia touring party and seventeen England players. Australia signatures include Bradman (Captain), Fleetwood-Smith, Brown, Barnes (signed twice), Chipperfield, McCabe, O’Reilly etc. England signatures include Hammond (Captain), Paynter, Hutton, Edrich, Leyland, Verity, Compton, Wright etc. Also a complete official scorecard for the fifth Test played at The Oval, 20th-24th August 1938 in which Len Hutton made his record score of 364 in England’s record total of 903-7 declared. Also in the montage are a selection of seventeen cigarette cards and a mono postcard of the Australia touring party. Framed and glazed overall 23.5”x19.5”. Some fading to the cigarette cards otherwise in good condition. Previously sold by Knights in 2019
The five match Ashes series was drawn 1-1 with two matches drawn and the Old Trafford Test abandoned without a ball bowled. England won the ‘timeless’ fifth Test at The Oval by an innings and 579 runs
