‘Champion County [Kent]’ and ‘Leicestershire’ 1909. Large album page very nicely signed in black ink to one side by twelve members of the 1909 Kent team for the Champion County Match v The Rest at the Kennington Oval, 13th- 16th September 1909, and, to the verso, by eleven of the 1909 Leicestershire team. Kent signatures are E.W. Dillon (Captain), K.L. Hutchings, S.H. Day, A.P. Day, D.W. Carr, J.R. Mason, J. Seymour, F.H. Huish, F.E. Woolley, E. Humphreys, A. Fielder and C. Blythe. Leicestershire signatures are V.F.S. Crawford, C.J.B. Wood, T. Jayes, H. Whitehead, W. Shipman, J.H. King, S. Coe, W.E. Astill, and the rarer H. Thompson (5 matches 1908-1910) and W. Sturman (24 matches 1909-1912). 6.75”x9”. Ink blots not affecting signatures, minor age toning to page extremities, otherwise in very good condition. Early pre-WWI signatures.
Kent won the County Championship three times under Ted Dillon’s captaincy, in 1909, 1910 and 1913. The rain affected 1909 Champion County match was drawn.
