Leicestershire 1899. Lined page from a hotel register nicely signed in ink by eleven Leicestershire players plus the Surrey scorer Frederick Boyington and one other unknown signature. The page headed ‘Leicestershire Eleven’. Leicestershire player signatures are A.D. Pougher, J.H. King, H. Whitehead, L. Brown, C. Agar, A.E. Knight, F. Geeson, S. Coe, J.P. Whiteside, C.J.B. Wood and E. Hobson (?). Eight of the players played in the opening match of the season playing Surrey at the Oval in May 1899. The unknown signature is of Arthur Chester who may be the player who played for Surrey 1872-1883. Further signatures and addresses to verso who are not cricket related. Ink smudge to the page affecting two of the signatures. Surrey won the match by an innings and 53 runs
