Ranjitsinhji. ‘The Book of the Thames, from its Rise to its Fall’. Mr. and Mrs. S.C. Hall. Arthur Hall, Virtue & Co., London, first edition 1859. Handsomely rebound in half calf and cloth boards, raised bands and gilts to spine, marbled endpapers, gilt to all page edges. Illustrated throughout the text with some 140 woodcuts. From Ranji’s collection with bookplate of ‘Maharahja Jam Shri Sir Ranjitsinghji Vibhaji’ to front endpaper, handwritten inscription in ink to second endpaper ‘Maharaja Jamsaheb of Nawanagar, February 1923, Staines’, and another (different) bookplate to inside rear cover, ‘Nil Desperandum. The Maharajah Jam Sahib of Nawanagar Jamnagar’. Very good condition.
