‘The Cricket Test. Europeans vs. Ceylonese’ 1921. Compiled by ‘S.T.W.’ (S.T. Wootler. Published by The Ceylon Independent, “Independent” Press 1921. 10pp booklet rebound in later purple cloth, gilt title to front, with original paper wrappers retained. The original front wrapper features an image of ‘Mr. V.F.S. Crawford, (Leicestershire). First appearance, after the war, in Test Cricket’, with subtitle ‘Played on the C.C.C. [Colombo] Ground, March 18th & 19th 1921’. Contents include a page on ‘Ceylon Test Match Cricketers Past and Present’, printed scores of the match played in 1920, and advertising. Ownership stamp of K.A. Auty of Ontario to first page. Padwick 4000 lists a similar booklet for 1923, but not this issue. Worm damage affecting original wrappers and pages. pp 5/6 with section clipped. Some age toning, overall in generally good condition. Rare, not previously seen by Knights.
In the 1921 match the Ceylonese beat the Europeans by an innings and four runs.
