‘Victor Trumper’s Photograph Album of the 1909 Australian Tour of England’. Facsimile reproduction of the album, bound in black leather and accompanied by introductory booklets housed in a pocket at the front of the album giving details of the photographs. Published in 2005 in a limited edition of 200 copies, this being number 100. Minor wear to front cover, otherwise in very good condition.
During the Australian tour of England of 1909, Frank Laver the team manager, took photographs of the team, their matches and the social scene of which they were part. At the end of the tour Laver put together an album for each player and although the majority of the photographs were the same, each album was personalised for the recipient, so each is unique. It contains 86 printed photographs, showing the team at work on the cricket field, at play at Henley, Windsor and Hastings, as well as exploring Pompeii on the voyage. There are photographs of all the team practising, now thought to be taken at Cheltenham and extra photographs which were probably included by Trumper himself. The book sold out when first published in 2005.
