Warwickshire trialists 1950s-1980s. Eight letters, the majority from and/ or to Leslie Deakins, Secretary of Warwickshire C.C.C., relating to requests and invitations to attend trials etc. Correspondents include an invitation to Ken Higgs (Lancashire, Leicestershire & England 1958-1982) to attend a trial in 1953, with Higgs’ handwritten reply requesting a change of date as it clashes with his holidays. Typed letter from Alf Gover to Leslie Deakins, dated 10th August 1963 on ‘Sandham and Gover’ letterhead, asking permission to invite Khalid Ibadullah to join a Commonwealth team to tour Pakistan. Two handwritten letters, one dated 27th March 1958, the other undated, from Brian Crump (Northamptonshire 1960-1972) turning down invitations to play in friendly matches for Warwickshire, stating that he has already accepted a similar request to play for Northamptonshire. Typed letter from Graham Dowling of the New Zealand Cricket Council, dated 14th June 1988, regarding a request to find cricketing opportunities for Simon Green (Warwickshire 1988-1991) in New Zealand etc. Also a handwritten letter from Leslie Ames inviting Bert Wolton (Warwickshire 1947-1960) to play in a match 31st August- 2nd September at Hastings (year and match unknown), sold with a Bert Wolton benefit leaflet and Warwickshire C.C.C. fixture card for 1959. Some folds and staple holes, otherwise in good condition.
