Glenn Maitland Turner. Worcestershire, Northern Districts, Otago & New Zealand 1964-1983. Duncan Fearnley ‘Glenn Turner’ autograph cricket bat used by Turner in the 1977 cricket season playing for Worcestershire. The bat has signs of wear to the face of the bat and some old woodworm to the right hand face of the bat otherwise in good condition. Sold with a letter of authentication signed by Fearnley ‘This bat was hand made by myself for Glenn Turner and was used by him to great effect during the 1977 season’. The bat was previously sold by John Goodwin Auctioneers in 2019 on behalf of Duncan Fearnley and formed part of his private bat collection. An historic bat
Glenn Turner made 1380 runs for Worcestershire in the 1977 season and averaged 41.81 with three centuries including an unbeaten 141 out of a total of 169 all out in the Championship match against Glamorgan in June 1977. This is still a world record in first class cricket for the highest percentage of runs scored by one batsman in a completed innings of a staggering 83.4%.
