‘Lights, Lugsy Action’. Colourful and decorative original watercolour painting by artist David Birtwistle. The painting shows an evening cricket match played at New Road, Worcester whilst viewed from inside the Pavilion showing the light of the floodlights, the lit cathedral and church to background, the spectators both in the pavilion and in the stands and the match in progress with scoreboard. Signed to the lower left hand border in pencil by the artist David Birtwistle. Attractively mounted, framed and glazed. Overall 32”x24”. A very well executed and attractive scene
David Birtwistle was born in 1947 and he has been exhibiting and selling his paintings and prints since he was an architectural student. His work, predominately watercolours, often engages with his areas of special interest. It is presumed this painting was commissioned to commemorate David Leatherdale’s Benefit Year in 2003 as a limited run of 250 prints were produced from it and signed by Leatherdale and the artist.
