‘The Third Test Match 1924/[25]. More Delightful News from Australia’. Humorous pen and ink drawing showing England’s woes prior to and during the third Test match against Australia at Adelaide. Pen and ink caricatures of leading players with problems ‘’Gilliigan lost the toss’, Tate has lost a toe nail’, Hearne is ill in bed’, Sutcliffe has strained his arm’, ‘Gilligan has strained his thigh’ and ‘Tate has gone lame and has had to leave the field’. Unsigned, ‘PTO to bottom right hand corner. The drawing measures 9.5”x7.25” and is attractively framed and glazed. Overall 14.25”x11”. Minor faults otherwise in good condition
England players did suffer in this Test, Tate and Gilligan had to retire with injuries, Gilligan apart from briefly batting had to retire from the match and Chapman took over. Hearne who had played in the 2nd Test was ill and Sutcliffe batted down the order in the first innings
