All India tour to England 1932. Inaugural Test match, England v India, Lord’s 25th- 28th June 1932. Original mono press photograph of the India team walking on to the field with the pavilion in the background at the start of their first ever Test match. Signed in blue ink to the photograph by nine players. Signatures are Naoomal Jaoomal, Palia, Colah, Jahangir Khan, Amar Singh, Wazir Ali, Lall Singh, Nazir Ali and Nissar. The photograph by Sport & General, London, measures 8”x6”. Includes a trimmed handwritten caption from the original album page. Ex J.W. Goldman collection. Light creasing, otherwise in very good condition. An excellent image.
Having elected to bat first, England reached 259 in their first innings, Jardine scoring 79, Ames 65, Nissar taking 5/93. In reply India scored 189 (Nayudu 40). England then declared their second innings at 275/8 (Jardine 85no), and bowled out India for 187 to seal victory by 158 runs.
