‘Old Reptonians v Fettesian Lorettonians 1890’. Attractive original sepia photograph of the two teams seated and standing on stone steps, presumably at Repton College. Hand written title and players’ names in ink to lower border of the image and title and players names repeated on the modern mount to the photograph. Notable players featured include C.B. Fry, M.R. Jardine, L.C.H. Palairet, R.C.N. Palairet, Alfred Cochrane, Francis Ford, and Rev. Arthur Forman seated next to his wife. Slight fading to the centre of the photograph, otherwise in good/very good condition. Framed and glazed, overall 22”x18”. An excellent image
Arthur Forman was a master at Repton and played cricket for Derbyshire. His wife, Eleanor Pears was the youngest daughter of Dr Pears, a former headmaster at Repton. The Fettesian-Loretton team was made up of old boys from two rival Scottish schools, Fettes College and Loretto School
