Yorkshire C.C.C. 1896. Large original sepia cabinet card photograph of the Yorkshire team seated and standing in rows wearing cricket attire, in front of the scoreboard in the match against Warwickshire at Edgbaston, 7th- 9th May 1896. Yorkshire had just posted a record first-class innings total of 887, the scoreboard showing the fall of the last wicket with number seven batsman, Bobby Peel, ending 210no. Their innings featured three other centuries by F.S. Jackson (117), E. Wainwright (126) and Lord Hawke (166). Also playing for Yorkshire were Tunnicliffe, Brown, Denton, Moorhouse, Milligan, Hirst (who took 8/59 in Warwickshire’s first innings) and Hunter. The match ended in a draw. The cabinet card by H.J. Whitlock of Birmingham measures 7”x10” overall. Gilt to card edges. Fading and wear to the photograph with some surface loss, otherwise in generally good condition. Rare.
