M.C.C. tour of Australia 1924/1925. Original mono real photograph of the S.S. Ormonde, the ship which took the M.C.C. team to Australia in 1924. The photograph, laid down to photographer’s mount, has handwritten title ‘M.C.C. Australian Tour 1924’ to top border. Nicely signed to top and side borders by all eighteen members of the touring party including the Manager Toone. Signatures are A.E.R. Gilligan (Cpt), Douglas, Hobbs, Bryan, Chapman, Whysall, Freeman, Sutcliffe, Tate, Tyldesley, Woolley, Howell, Sandham, Kilner, Strudwick, Hendren and Hearne, Ink inscription to lower border ‘Sailed Sept 13th 1924’ Good condition. Australian won the series by four Tests to one, despite some excellent opening partnerships from Hobbs and Sutcliffe. Sutcliffe topped the batting averages scoring 1250 runs at 69.44 with five centuries, two of them in Tests. Tate topped the bowling averages with 77 wickets at 19.01
