Alfred Shaw and Arthur Shrewsbury. Nottingham 1885. 181pp plus adverts and excellent bookplate photograph of the team. Original decorative card wrappers. Presentation copy with handwritten dedication in ink to title page to the collector, ‘C.P. [Charles Pratt] Green, Malvern, from Arthur Shrewsbury July 8th 1890’. Bookplate of J.W. Goldman to inside front cover with inserted advertising label, ‘Notice. A list of Shaw & Shrewsbury’s specialities in Cricket, Lawn Tennis and Football Goods...’. Padwick 4409. Wear and loss to spine paper, minor age toning and wear to wrappers, otherwise in good/ very good condition. Rare.
Charles Pratt Green (1852-1950) lived for many years in Beresford House in Great Malvern where he traded as a wine merchant. During his life he amassed a large collection of cricket books and over 150 bats.
