Frank Alfred Tarrant. Victoria, Middlesex, Europeans & Patiala 1898-1937. Rare sepia real photograph postcard of Tarrant depicted standing full length on the outfield in batting pose, wearing an unusual hat, marquees in the background. Very nicely signed in black ink to the photograph by Tarrant. Location in India and date unknown, possibly c.1930. Blind embossed stamp to lower left corner for Bourne & Shepherd in India. Postally unused. Minor adhesive marks to verso, otherwise in very good condition. An excellent image and signature.
Regarded by some as the greatest all-rounder of his generation, Frank Tarrant made four first-class double centuries, three for Middlesex, one for Victoria, but as an Australian living in England he was never selected for Test matches. He became a first-class umpire and stood in two Test matches in India 1933/34.

Founded in 1863, Bourne & Shepherd were one of the earliest photographic studios with branches throughout India, London and Paris.
