Gloucestershire C.C.C. 1880. Two early original single sided scorecards for matches played by Gloucestershire in 1880, both matches featuring the three Graces, W.G., E.M. and G.F., their cousin, Walter Gilbert, and Billy Midwinter. One scorecard, with complete printed scores, is for the match v. Surrey at Kennington Oval, 10th & 11th June 1880. Surrey elected to bat first and scored 114, W.G. Grace and William Woof sharing the wickets five apiece. In reply, Gloucestershire could reach only 84, Fred Grace top scorer with 24, Surrey’s Joseph Potter taking 7/31. Surrey then posted 114, W.G. Grace taking a further five wickets to return match figures of 10/78, before bowling out Gloucestershire for just 62, Bunny Lucas taking 5/23, Surrey winning by 82 runs. Printed by John Sharp, Ludgate Hill. Minor age toning, otherwise in very good condition. The other scorecard, with incomplete printed and handwritten scores is for the rain affected drawn match v.
