Australia tour to England 1888. ‘Australians v. Players of England’. Early original double sided scorecard with complete printed scores for the tour match played at Kennington Oval, 31st May & 1st June 1888. The Players won the toss and batted first, reaching 231 helped by a 43 run partnership for the last wicket between Harry Wood (44) and Walter Wright (14). The Australian batting failed twice against the fast bowling of George Lohmann (seven wickets in the match) and Billy Barnes (nine wickets) to be dismissed for 127 and, following on, 114. George Ulyett and Bobby Abel knocked off the required runs to end 12 without loss to win by ten wickets within two days. Printed on the ground by Wright & Co., London, with advertising for F.H. Ayres’ sports outlet to verso. 4.75”x6.25”. Small stain to front, otherwise in very good condition.
