‘Surrey v. Yorkshire’ 1899. Two record partnerships in one match. Early original single sided scorecard with complete printed scores for the match played at Kennington Oval, 10th- 12th August 1899. 1255 runs were scored for the loss of only seventeen wickets in this high scoring drawn game. Batting first Yorkshire amassed a total of 704 with Ted Wainwright (career best 228) and George Hirst (186) sharing a then record stand of 340 for the fifth wicket. Surrey’s only innings then closed at 551/7 with Tom Hayward (273) and Bobby Abel setting a then record fourth wicket stand of 448. Surrey’s Tom Richardson took five wickets for Surrey in Yorkshire’s only innings. Annotations in ink to verso detailing the achievements of the match. 4.5”x6”. Very good condition.
