‘Surrey v. Yorkshire’ 1899. Early original double sided scorecard with complete printed scores for the match played at Kennington Oval, 10th- 12th August 1899. A high scoring match comprising four centuries, of which two were double centuries, saw Yorkshire batting first and amassing a total of 704. Ted Wainwright top scored with a career best 228, George Hirst made 186, and they shared a fifth wicket partnership of 340. In reply Surrey ended 551/7 with Tom Hayward scoring 273 and Bobby Abel 193, sharing a fourth wicket partnership of 448. The match was drawn. Printed on the ground by Merritt & Hatcher, Upper Thames Street, London. Printed fixtures to verso. 4.5”x5.75”. Adhesive marks to verso where previously laid down, some staining to top edge, otherwise in good condition.
