‘Champion County [Yorkshire] v. Rest of England’ 1924. Original single sided scorecard with incomplete printed scores for the match played at Kennington Oval, 13th- 16th September 1924. Yorkshire elected to bat first and were bowled out for 166, Percy Holmes the top scorer with 62. In reply The Rest reached 524/8 declared with Frank Woolley hitting 202, Percy Chapman 74. Yorkshire were then dismissed in their second innings for 234, The Rest winning by an innings and 124 runs. The scorecard is nicely signed in ink to the front by twenty one players who appeared in the match. Yorkshire signatures are Wilson (Captain), Sutcliffe, Rhodes, Taylor, Robinson, Holmes, Kilner, Oldroyd, Waddington, Dolphin and Macaulay. The Rest signatures are Gilligan (Captain), Douglas, Hendren, Woolley, Strudwick, Hearne (signed twice), Sandham, Tate, Tyldesley and Hobbs. Lacking the signature of Chapman. Slight smudging to the signatures of Oldroyd and Dolphin. 5.5”x9.5”. Horizontal fold, wear, creasing and nicks to edges. Overall in generally good condition.
Captained by Geoffrey Wilson, Yorkshire won the County Championship in 1924 for the third successive year. This was Wilson’s final first-class match.
