‘England v. Australia. Final Test Match’ 1926. Original commemorative silk scorecard for the 5th Ashes Test played at Kennington Oval, 14th- 18th August 1926. Coming in to the final deciding match with the first four all drawn, England won the toss and batted first making 280, Herbert Sutcliffe top scorer with 76, Arthur Mailey taking 6/138. Australia then posted a slender first innings lead, reaching 302 (Jack Gregory 73, Herbie Collins 61). In the second innings an opening stand of 172 by Hobbs (100) and Sutcliffe (161) helped them to a total of 436, setting Australia 415 to win. However they were bowled out for 125 (Wilfred Rhodes 4/44), England winning by 289 runs to regain The Ashes. 6”x9.75”. The scorecard is laid down by the top and bottom edges to black album page. Slight adhesive show-through, otherwise in very good condition.
