Nottinghamshire v West Indies 1928. ‘Visit of their Majesties The King [George V] and Queen Mary’. Original silk scorecard produced to commemorate the Royal visit to the Trent Bridge Ground on the 7th- 10th July 1928. The scorecard printed by C.H. Richards of Nottingham has ‘Royal Souvenir Copy’ printed above the standard headings. The match was drawn, Nottinghamshire scoring 393 (Arthur Carr 100, Arthur Staples 84, William Whysall 80) & 246/6 dec., West Indies 378 (Barto Bartlett 109, Karl Nunes 62, Sam staples 5/99) & 85/0. The scorecard is laid down by the top and bottom edges to black album page. Slight adhesive show-through, otherwise in very good condition.
The tour fixture was rendered historic by the visit of their Majesties, King George V and Queen Mary to Trent Bridge Ground on the concluding day of the match, when the players of both teams were presented. This was the first occasion on which the King and Queen visited a cricket ground outside London.
