‘Death’s Doings; consisting of numerous original compositions, in prose and verse, the friendly contributions of various writers; principally intended as illustrations of thirty plates, designed and etched by R. Dagley, author of “Select Gems from the Antique” &c.’. Second London edition ‘with considerable additions’. London 1827. Published in two volumes, this is Volume I comprising 224 pages, with a cricket section, ‘The Game of Life; or Death Among the Cricketers’, a poem by S. Maunder, verses in praise of Cricket’ by the Rev M. Cotton and a prose piece ‘Death and the Cricketer’ by Barnard Batwell, with an etching ‘The Cricketer’ by Dagley. Early half leather binding and decorative gilt title to spine. Wear to boards and spine Good condition.
