‘England Test Cricketers. The Complete Record from 1877’. An extensive collection of almost five hundred signatures very nicely presented in six binders organised alphabetically. Each binder comprises signatures, the majority in ink on pieces, laid down with biographical extracts of each player taken from Bill Frindall’s book of the same title (originally published in 1989), with additional collectors’ cards, printed images, cigarette cards, letters, commemorative covers etc. Some signatures are duplicated. Five of the binders feature a trimmed copy of the dustwrapper of Frindall’s book loosely laid down to the front cover. Binder ‘A-C’ comprises 94 signatures, earlier examples include Gubby Allen, Maurice Allom, Leslie Ames, Bob Appleyard, W.E. Astill (tightly trimmed), Fred Bakewell, Wilf Barber, Sydney Barnes, Fred Barratt, Colin Blythe, Bernard Bosanquet, Bill Bowes, Ted Bowley, Len Braund, Walter Brearley, Hugh Bromley-Davenport, Freddie Brown, George Brown, Jack Brown, Arthur Carr, Douglas Carr, Percy Chapman, Nobby Clark, Tich Cornford etc. ‘C-G’ with 82 signatures including Jack Crawford, Eddie Dawson, Harry Dean, David Denton, Alf Dipper, Hubert Doggart, Tom Dollery, Arthur Dolphin, Johnny Douglas, Andy Ducat, K.S. Duleepsinhji, William Farrimond, Percy Fender, Arthur Fielder, Tich Freeman, C.B. Fry, George Geary, Harold Gilligan (trimmed), Arthur Gilligan, Harold Gimblett, Alf Gover, W.G. Grace, Billy Griffith etc. ‘G-L’ 70 signatures of George Gunn, John Gunn, Nigel Haig, Charles Hallows, Walter Hammond, Wally Hardinge (trimmed), Ernest Hayes, Tom Hayward, Alec Hearne, Jack Hearne, Patsy Hendren, George Hirst, Bill Hitch, Jack Hobbs, Percy Holmes, Len Hutton, Douglas Jardine, Gilbert Jessop, Arthur Jones, Vallance Jupp etc. and includes a nicely signed letter from Lord Harris to F.S. Ashley-Cooper, dated 11th July 1923, and a personal headed card nicely signed by Lord Hawke. ‘L-P’ 87 signatures including Harold Larwood, Harry Lee, Hopper Levett, Henry Leveson Gower, Dick Lilley, Alfred Lyttelton, George Macaulay, Arthur McIntyre, Francis MacKinnon, Archie MacLaren, Harry Makepeace, Frank Mann, Phil Mead, Cecil Parkin, Edmund Peate, Bobby Peel etc. ‘P-S’ 78 signatures including Albert Relf, Wilfred Rhodes, Tom Richardson, Walter Robins, Fred Root (trimmed), Andrew Sandham, C. Aubrey Smith (nicely signed to album page, dated ‘Feb 1928’), Reggie Spooner, Greville Stevens, Andrew Stoddart, Herbert Strudwick etc. ‘S-Y’ 85 signatures including Herbert Sutcliffe, Fred Tate, Maurice Tate, Lord Tennyson, Albert Trott, Maurice Turnbull, Ernest Tyldesley, Johnny Tyldesley, Bryan Valentine, Hedley Verity, Joe Vine (on trimmed album page), Plum Warner, Alexander Webbe, Jack White, Rockley Wilson, Sammy Woods, Frank Woolley, Harding Young (on trimmed album page) etc. Very good condition.
