Cambridge University C.C. 1887 & 1890. Two early original scorecards for matches played at Fenner’s Ground, Cambridge, both with complete printed scores. The first for the ‘Seniors’ Match. Mr. [C.D.] Buxton’s Side v. Mr. [F.] Marchant’s Side’, dated 7th May 1887. Played twelve per side, Buxton’s XII (110 & 91) beat Marchant’s XII (130 & 66) by five runs. A.M. Sutthery took ten wickets for Marchant’s XII in the second innings, thirteen in the match. Some creasing and wear, otherwise in good condition. Sold with the official scorecard for the match v. M.C.C. & Ground, 22nd & 23rd May 1890. Cambridge (133 & 175) lost to M.C.C. (267 & 44/1) by nine wickets. F.S. Jackson played for Cambridge. The card laid to tightly trimmed card with initials to verso of ‘C.P.F. [Cyril Foley]’ who played in this match, originally from Foley’s collection. Good condition.
