F.A. Cup Final 1924. Aston Villa v Newcastle United. Early official programme for the game played at The Empire Stadium, Wembley on 26th April 1924. The programme has wear and soiling to covers and to some internal pages and has lost its staples. The front cover is worn with a vertical crease, some wear and loss to cover edges, tears, nicks and old tape to cover edges and to spine. Internally there are nicks to the edges of the first two pages, nicks and small tears to the top edge of page 15/16 otherwise in good condition. A rare early Cup Final from only the second Final to be held at Wembley
The 1924 FA Cup final was contested by Newcastle United and Aston Villa at Wembley. Newcastle won 2–0, with the goals scored by Neil Harris and Stan Seymour. The match has become commonly known as the “Rainy Day Final” due to the weather that day, a consequence of which has led to there being very few good condition programmes left for the game (many fans used their match programmes as makeshift umbrellas).
