Aston Villa F.C. Original section of carpet reclaimed from the main entrance to the Trinity Road stand when demolished, 20th May 2000. The section depicts the circular Club emblem of rampant lion on blue background to the centre surrounded by ‘Aston Villa F.C’ on a claret coloured background, The emblem measures approx. 11” diameter. Mounted, framed and glazed, overall 20.5”x21.5” with mounted title ‘Carpet from the Main Entrance of the Trinity Road Stand’. Sold with certificate of authenticity. Very good condition.
The Trinity Road Stand was built c.1922 and was considered one of the grandest in the country with stained glass windows, mosaics and a sweeping staircase. It was demolished in 2000 to be replaced by the current stand.
