Cricket Boots used in the 1880’s. Canvas boots were the first traditional cricket boots to manufactured in the 1880’s. Most first class cricketers up until that point wore brown shoes or boots. These boots have a bonded surface of jute rope material, as used in modern espadrilles and compared with later styles offered little ankle support. Sold with a pair of cricket boots from the 1930’s. These leather boots were advertised as being ‘built on a wide last, ensuring every comfort’ and detailed at 17/6 in 1938. They offered very high ankle support with eyelets which enabled lacing to the very top. The soles are pierced by drive in spikes and screw in spikes, as well at 20 to 30 nails. Odd faults otherwise both pairs in good condition. Sold with the vendors notes on the items. Qty 2.
