England v Ireland 1906. Excellent early original sepia/ mono photograph of the England team depicted wearing formal attire, seated and standing in rows in a country setting with snow-capped mountains in the background. The photograph, taken for the match played at Belfast, 17th February 1906, measures approx. 11”x8, laid to original photographer’s mount with later window mount overlaid with handwritten title and players’ names inscribed to lower mount border. Players’ names also inscribed to verso. Players are Harris (Captain), Veitch, Day, Brown, Bond, Smith, Warren, Ashcroft, Bull, Common, Gosnell, Houlker and Crompton. Very good condition.
