The Ashes. ‘Souvenir of the Fifth Test Match England v Australia’ 1903/04. Rare early mono postcard of the scorecard for the match played at Melbourne, 5th- 8th March 1904, with ornate decorative borders, title and emblems. Publisher unknown. Postally unused. Minor age toning and soiling, otherwise in good/ very good condition. A rare postcard.
England had already secured the Ashes going into the final Test with the series at 3-1. In the first innings of the final match Australia scored 247 (Braund 8/81), England bowled out for only 61 (Cotter 6/40). Australia then made 133 (Hirst 5/48), and dismissed England for 101 (Trumble 7/27) to win by 218 runs. England won the series 3-2 to regain The Ashes for the first time since 1896.
