Australia tour to England 1882. ‘Australians v. Gentlemen of England’. Early original double sided scorecard for the match played at the Kennington Oval, 22nd June and following days... The scorecard with incomplete and pencil printed scores. The Gentlemen eleven included W.G. Grace, Hornby, Read, Steel, Studd, Tylecote, Lucas etc, the Australian team included Murdoch (Cpt), Spofforth, Bannerman, Massie, Giffen, Bonnor, Palmer, Garrett, Blackham etc. To the verso, advertisements include for ‘Cricket. A Weekly Record of the Game, published every Thursday’, Ransome’s Lawn Mowers etc. Printer unknown. 4.5”x6”. Some light fading to print, wear to corners and some age toning otherwise in good condition
The Australians won by an innings and 1 run. Bonnor top scored with 74 in Australia’s only innings, Murdoch making 57 and Bannerman 50. W.G. Grace top scored in both innings for the Gentleman with 61 and 32. Giffen taking eleven wickets in the match
