Longbottom etc. The photograph measures 18”x10”, laid to original tightly trimmed mount card. Photographer unknown. Players’ names and title annotated in pencil to verso. The Yorkshire Challenge Cup was inaugurated by the Yorkshire Rugby Football Union in 1878. Prior to 1895, when the breakaway Northern Rugby Football Union established its own administration leading to the introduction of rugby league, Wakefield Trinity played in the final nine times, winning the cup in 1879, 1880, 1883 and 1887.
