‘Surrey v. Sussex’ 1888. ‘The Largest Innings Recorded in an Inter-County Match’. Early original commemorative silk scorecard with complete printed scores for the match played at Kennington Oval 9th- 11th August 1888. In a very one-sided affair, Surrey amassed 698 in their only innings, Walter Read scoring 171 and Monty Bowden a career best 189no. All eleven Sussex players bowled. In reply an exhausted Sussex were bowled out for 114 and 99, Surrey winning by an innings and 485 runs. George Lohmann took six wickets in each innings, returning match bowling figures of 12/78.
