Horse racing. Small box comprising a selection of horse racing and other sporting ephemera. Contents include a Huntley and Palmer biscuit tin with colour image to lid of ‘Early Mist’, winner of the 1953 Grand National. ‘Grand National Drinking Set’ of six shot glasses in original box c.1963, each glass featuring a colour image of a Grand National winner for years 1957-1963, maker unknown. A Franklyn Mint porcelain ‘The Grand National’ tankard by Sue Wingate 1996 plus mug. Original complete copy of the final published issue of ‘Sporting Life’ newspaper 12th May 1998, with a ‘Sporting Life’ ashtray, 8” diameter. Five original racecard booklets, three from Folkestone 1996, 1998 and 2004, and two from Ascot 7th April 1993. Some signatures to fronts including Martin Pipe, Peter Scudamore etc. Sold with a small selection of other sporting ephemera including England v Wales rugby programme 1980, cricket magazines, ‘Flagstaff Cricket Annual 1969’ a Colin Cowdrey postcard signed to the verso by Alan Ealham of Kent and one other etc. Good condition.
