Charles George ‘Charlie’ Macartney. New South Wales & Australia 1905-1926. Single page typewritten letter from Macartney to a collector, ‘Mr Hill’. Dated 14th February 1940, Macartney is replying to a request for six copies of his autograph, which he has provided. It appears the collector required one signature for each of the tours in which Macartney took part and he points out ‘you have overlooked the one to the East (Malaya) in 1927... I have included [another signature] to make it seven’. He then states that, due to call-up for war service ‘I am unable to see many of the people whom you mention’. Very nicely signed in black ink ‘C.G. Macartney’. Adhesive marks to verso where previously laid down, some age toning, folds and wrinkling, otherwise in good condition.
