John Walter Rutherford. Western Australia & Australia 1952-1961. Two page hand written aerogramme letter from Rutherford to Jack Sokell of the Wombwell Cricket Lovers’ Society. Dated 6th April 1956, Rutherford is writing from the S.S. Himalaya on the voyage to England for the 1956 Ashes tour. He thanks Sokell for the congratulations on his selection for the tour and notes that one of the patrons of the Society is the classical conductor, Sir John Barbirolli, saying ‘I share with Keith Miller a love of the classics... I must see Sir John and Sir Thomas Beecham performing before I leave your shores. Nicely signed ‘John Rutherford’. Light folds, otherwise in very good condition.
