W.G. Grace. Gloucestershire & England 1865-1908. Two page handwritten letter from W.G. Grace, written on London County Cricket Club headed paper (the cricket lined through and ‘Bowling’ added) to Sugden regarding him playing bowls. The letter dated 21st June 1908, ‘Dear Sugden, I want you to play on Thursday at Norwood [London] and on Saturday at Castle Bar Park v Great Western Railway. I was sorry you were not bale to play on Saturday and to hear that you would not be home until tomorrow, we go to Ilford to bowl against Valentine’s Park, I wanted you to go with us, but as I do not know what time you will be back, I have filled your place. I heard by chance that you thought I had done this last week, but I had not, the [???] was for the English Competition and not the Jacques Trophy. Hoping you have had a good trip. I am, yours truly W.G. Grace’. Light folds to letter otherwise in good condition. Attractively mounted, framed and glazed. Overall 14”x12”.
