John Carpenter Garnier. Oxford University and M.C.C. (two matches). Handwritten two page letter from Garnier on ‘House of Commons Library’ headed mourning (black edges) paper, dated July 1880 and written from 42 St. James Place, London. Garnier is writing to a Mr Stills [?], he thanks him, for his letter and for getting flowers, the account to be dealt with by his wife, he then goes on to give his condolences .. Signed ‘J. Carpenter Garnier’. Loss to left hand top corner and some adhesive marks to the top border of the back of the letter
John Carpenter Garnier was an English Conservative politician who sat in the House of Commons from 1873 to 1884.
