Henry Knollys ‘Harry’ Foster. Oxford University & Worcestershire 1894-1925. Single page handwritten letter in ink from Foster to Charles Pratt Green. The letter on Foster’s Land Agency letterhead of Worcester, dated 7th July 1937. Foster writes to inform Green that he will be visiting his elderly mother in Malvern and attending meetings at the college, and hopes to ‘run up to see you’. Nicely signed ‘H.K.’. Light folds. Very good condition.
Harry Foster was the first official captain of Worcestershire from 1899 to 1900, 1902 to 1910 and again in 1913, and led the side in their first ever County Championship match in 1899. He was the eldest of seven cricketing brothers, one of whom, R.E. ‘Tip’ Foster played for England in eight Tests.
