South Africa tours to England 1924 and 1929. A selection of seven original mono press photographs and two scorecards from South Africa tours of the 1920s. The photographs, all from the 1929 tour feature Sir Francis Lacey, former Secretary of the M.C.C. in conversation with South African captain, ‘Nummy’ Deane. Captains and officials for the opening match of the tour v R Earle’s XI at Godalming including H.O. Frielinghaus (tour manager), H.D.G. Leveson-Gower, E.A. Earle, J.W.H.T. Douglas etc. Two of match action from the 3rd Test at Headingley. H. Owen-Smith and H.B. Cameron practising at Lord’s. Mitchell and Cameron walking out to bat in the 1st Test at Edgbaston etc. The majority 8”x6”. Photo agencies include Sport & General, Press Association etc. Adhesive marks to the verso of six. Sold with two official scorecards from the 1924 tour. Matches are v M.C.C. at Lord’s, 24th- 27th May, and v H.D.G. Leveson-Gower’s XI at Reigate 25th- 27th June 1924. Both with incomplete printed and handwritten scores. Horizontal folds, otherwise in good condition. Qty 9.
