‘A Record in County Cricket. Nottinghamshire v. Sussex’ 1895. Early original single sided commemorative scorecard for the match played at Trent Bridge, 16th- 18th May 1895. The card, with decorative ornate maroon borders, shows Nottinghamshire’s then record total of 726, William Gunn scoring 219, Richard Howitt 119 and Robert Bagguley 110. Sussex were then dismissed twice for 170 (Wilkinson 5/56) and 178 (Newham 75no, Attewell 5/36), Nottinghamshire winning by an innings and 378 runs. Printer unknown. 6.75”x9.5”. Some soiling and age toning, otherwise in good condition.
Nottinghamshire’s then record score in the County Championship of 726 was surpassed two months later when Lancashire score 801 against Somerset at Taunton.
