Australia. E.L. Waddy’s tour to Queensland 1935. A tour brochure and match programme from the tour made up by a team of prominent Australian cricketers captained by Stan McCabe, with other Test players including Ernest Bromley, Clarrie Grimmett, Bill Brown and Ray Robinson. The 48pp tour brochure ‘Produced for the Cairns Cricket Association by H. Smallwood Esq., Cairns’, lacking original wrappers, comprising team images, statistics, blank scoresheet, advertising etc. Also a ‘Souvenir Programme. The E.L. Waddy Eleven. The first team of Australian International Cricketers to visit Ingham versus Herbert River Eleven’ for the match played at Ingham in North Queensland, 24th April 1935. 24pp with decorative colour wrappers. Loss to edge of front wrapper, significant loss to rear wrapper, some staining to pages. Neither publication appears to be listed by Padwick. Faults as described, otherwise in generally good condition. Qty 2.
Edgar Lloyd ‘Gar’ Waddy (New South Wales 1896-1921) was one of a number of former players and administrators who arranged tours aimed to promote cricket in areas outside the major Australian state cities.
